President Al-Bashir calls for unified Arab stance towards Israeli aggressions on Gaza Strip

Khartoum, Dec. 27 (SUNA) - President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir has called on the Arab countries to adopt a unified Arab stance towards the Israeli aggressions on Gaza Strip. In a telephone call conducted with him by Aljazeera TV channel, President Al-Bashir expressed hope that the Arab summit will come out with strong decisions that does not suffice with condemnations and denunciations, calling for stoppage of normalization by any Arab state with Israel. President Al-Bashir pointed out that the Arab states should pause to reconsider its relations with US. BT/BT

Sudan calls for stoppage of the barbaric aggression on the Palestinian people

Khartoum, Dec. 27 (SUNA) - Sudan has called for stoppage of the barbaric aggression on the Palestinian people which was carried out Saturday by the Zionist enemy, using its military arsenal against the innocent Palestinian people in Gaza Strip. A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saturday called on the Council of the Arab League to hold an emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers and the summit as well as the Organization of Islamic Conference to discuss the Israeli aggressions on the Palestinian people in Gaza. It also called on the Security Council and the international community to live up to their responsibilities towards this catastrophe and exercise pressure on the Zionist entity to stop its aggressions. The statement also urged the Arab brothers, the international community, and all peace-loving people to work for lifting the blockade imposed on the Palestinian people and provision of humanitarian aid to them. Meetings of experts to prepare for the summit of Sana'a Grouping starts

Khartoum, Dec. 27 (SUNA)- The meetings of experts to prepare for the sixth summit of Sana'a Cooperation Grouping started at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum Saturday. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and head of the Sudanese side at the meeting Nejat Hassan has stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation between member states of the grouping, urging reaching effective proposals to be submitted to the summit meeting, especially as regards reactivating the regional projects in the fields of telecommunications, transport and trade. The Ethiopian delegation presented a briefing on the achievements realized by the grouping in the past period, describing the meeting as an opportunity to assess what has been realized and doubling efforts in the coming stage. General Union of Sudanese Journalists: The act committed by Israel against Gaza Strip an ugly crime and genocide

Khartoum, Dec. 27 (SUNA) - The General Union of Sudanese Journalists has described the act committed by Israel Saturday against Gaza Strip, which led to the killing of more than 155 Palestinians, as an ugly crime, barbaric act and a genocide that was against all human norms and values. In a statement it issued Saturday, the union called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Conference and the United Nations to take clear stance against Israel for its flagrant aggression on the Palestinian people. The statement held the American administration responsible for the failure of solving the Palestinian problem and complicity in the Israeli designs. The Union called on all active organizations in the Arab world and the whole world to condemn the Israeli crime and work to bring its perpetrators to justice. It called for convening urgent Arab and Islamic summits to confront the Imperialist Zionist designs against the area. BT/BT

Second Forum of Sudanese Working in International and Regional organizations and Financing institutions to begin on January 7

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA) - State Minister at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs Kamal Abdullatief presided over Monday the meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the Second Forum of the Sudanese Working in the International and Regional Organizations and Financing Institutions, scheduled to be held January 7-9. The forum aims to link this important category of the Sudanese with homeland issues and developments besides benefiting from their expertise and efforts in all development fields. Reviewing the reports of the subcommittees on arrangements, implementation and follow-up, the meeting got assured of the final features of the forum, especially with respect to the participants and the working papers that are to be presented before the forum. The Rapporteur of the committee, Dr. Karar Al-Tuhami said that there is a big response from the Sudanese working in the international and regional organizations and financing institutions to take part in the forum. Government welcomes appointment by Russia to special envoy to Sudan

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA)- The Government has welcomed appointment by Russia to a special envoy to Sudan. A press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Monday said the step comes in affirmation and support of the distinguished relations linking Sudan and Russia and the Russian role in solving disputes and boosting the international peace and security. The ministry expressed its confidence that the Russian special envoy would be an impetus to the ongoing efforts to find comprehensive and durable settlement to Darfur problem. BT/BT

State Minister at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Receives Copy of Credentials of Ugandan Ambassador

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA)- State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Al-Sammani Al-Wassila received at his office Monday the Ugandan Ambassador designate to Sudan who handed him a copy of her credentials prior to submitting them to the Presidency. The Ugandan diplomat expressed happiness to work in Sudan, affirming readiness to promote and strengthen the relations between leaderships and peoples of the two countries. The Minister, on his part, welcomed the ambassador wishing her good stay in Sudan, affirming that the Sudanese officials will cooperate to enable her to perform her duties with regard to boosting cooperation between the two countries in all domains. Contract on Establishment of sectors of Western Salvation Road to be signed Thursday

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA) - Amid an official and popular presence, the Friendship Hall is to witness next Thursday the signing of a contract on establishment of Salvation) Western Road; Nuhud- Um Kadadah sector and Al-Dibeibat- Abu Zabad- Al-Fulah Road in addition to Al-Fulah electricity, the electricity line of Dongola- Wadi Halfa and Sennar Bridge. Minister of Finance and National Economy, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, considered these projects as a compliance of his ministry with the recommendations of the national dialogue on the solution of Darfur problem, embodied in the budget of 2009 that include roads, electricity, water and other services projects. He added that the early signing for the establishment of the Western Salvation Road to be as of the beginning of the year is affirmation of the state commitment to provide development and services to realize the aspired stability, pointing to the importance of the road. Chairman of the National Corporation for Highways and Bridges, Hamid Al-Wakeel said that the length of the road is 221 kilometres, pointing out that the Ministry of Finance allocated the required financial funds. Karti Returns Home after Visits to Czech Republic and Austria

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA) - The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Karti, Monday returned home after an official several-day visit to Czech Republic and Austria during which he discussed with officials there the progress of Sudan relations with their respective in the political, economic and cultural fields, especially that the Czech Republic will be the chairman of the European Union early next year, while Austria will be a non-permanent member of the Security Council. In a press statement to the press upon return at Khartoum Airport Monday, Karti said that he held meetings with a number Czech officials including the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the Deputy Foreign Minister and officials of the Czech Industrial and Trade Chamber and the Czech - Arab Chamber. He said that his visit provided opportunity to hold economic and political talks with Czech officials and to acquaint them with the situation in Sudan and the government efforts to boost the peace process and to reach solution for Darfur issue, adding that the Czech officials have shown serious desire to strengthen the relations between their country and Sudan, especially in the economic field. The minister said that he invited a number of Czech officials to visit Sudan. Karti said that he also visited Austria in response to a invitation from the Austrian Foreign Minister to participate in the Arab - European Dialogue Conference which has focused its discussion on the issues of youths, women, non-governmental organizations, inter-religious and inter-culture dialogue, democracy, human rights and freedoms. He indicated that the Arab party at the conference concentrated its discussion on the Palestinian question and the continuous Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people. Karti said that he met in Austria the deputy Speaker of Parliament and the Foreign Minister and discussed the role that can be played by Austria in support of Sudan issues at the Security Council, especially that Austria is known for its neutral stances toward the developing countries. He said that he also met during the visit with the Official of Foreign Relations at the Austrian Socialist Party and officials at the Austrian Industrial and Trade Chamber and reviewed ways to strengthen the cooperation between Sudan and Austria in the economic field. Karti said that discussed with the Slovak Deputy Foreign Minister means of reviewing and renewing the agreements between Sudan and Slovakia in the political, economic, cultural and information fields, adding that Slovakia was the first country to write off its debts to Sudan. Karti said that he invited the Slovak Deputy Foreign Minister to visit Sudan. MO/MO

UAE express ready to support Sudan in the peace process and development

Khartoum, Dec. 5 (SUNA) - The United Arab Emirates ambassador to the Sudan, Issa Abdalla Al Nayimi, has reaffirmed his country's readiness to back the peace realization and development process in the Sudan. Ambassador Issa said his country's leadership blesses the government efforts in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and its handling of the question of Darfur, via dialogue and national accord. In an interview with the Sudan News Agency, the ambassador who is the Dean of the diplomatic corp. in Khartoum, pointed out that relations between his country and the Sudan weredeveloped and are based on stable pillars that were initiated by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan. The ambassador who was speaking to the SUNA on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of his UAE National Day, said at the top of the concern of his country's towards the Sudan comes the backing of peace and development, citing in this the many investments projects carried by his country in the Sudan saying they stand as model for the Arab countries. He said the recent visit of the President of the Republic Field Marshal Omar Al-Bashir and that of the First Vice President and of the Vice President to the United Arab Emirates was a good opportunity that gave a huge impetus to the strengthening of the relations between the two countries and that the outcome could be seen in the subsequent visits by delegations from the two countries. He cited the recent visit of a team of charity delegations to the Sudan and their discussions over what the UAE could provide for Darfur has resulted in the dispatch of Air Bridge and a medical team while a number of charity and voluntary organizations have implemented a number of charity programmes in the Sudan to serve the Sudanese people. The ambassador said investment projects carried by the United Arab Emirates in the Sudan in the financial service, agriculture and medical domains stands at over two billion us dollars. He said his country's assistance focus on the domain of the strategic domains such as bridges, road construction and dams such as the Merwe dam. The ambassador has meanwhile pointed out to the many achievements scored in his country under the able leadership of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayd al Nahian in the domain of education, social welfare and education as well as the continued development in the area of infrastructures. Taha to Receive Congratulations on Eid Al-Adha on Tuesday

Khartoum, Dec. 4 (SUNA)- Vice - President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, is due to receive congratulations on Eid Al-Adha at 10:00 a.m. in the second day of the Eid from the senior Armed Forces' officers at the Armed Forces' Officers Club, from the Security officers at the National Club and from the Police officers at the Police Club. Taha will also receive at 11.30 a.m. in the same day at the Guest House the congratulations from the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Council of the States, the Chief Justice, Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Chairman of the General Elections Commission. The Vice President will receive congratulations from heads of the diplomatic missions in Sudan at 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday at the Guest House. He will also receive the congratulations on the Eid occasion in the Guest House at 12:00 noon on Tuesday from the Presidential Advisors, the ministers, members of the former Revolutionary Command Council, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, the two Deputies of the Chairman of the Council of the States, chairpersons of the committees of the National Assembly and the Council of the States, Deputy Chief Justices, Deputy Chairmen of the Constitutional Court, Chairmen of the Commissions the Wali (governor) of Khartoum State and members of his government, Chairman of the Legislative Council of Khartoum State, along with the Chairmen of the committees of Khartoum State's Legislative Council, chairmen of the political parties, leaders of the civil service, the judges of the Supreme Court and Muslim and Christian scholars.
